The New York Islanders have signed veteran forward Matt Martin to a one-year contract after he participated in training camp on a professional tryout. Martin, 35, is known for his physical style of play and has been a key player for the Islanders over his career.

In addition to this signing, the team placed Anthony Duclair on long-term injured reserve due to a leg injury sustained against the Montreal Canadiens. Duclair is expected to miss four to six weeks.
